As you sail on the ferry from Oban you can clearly see Duart Castle. Perched on a rocky promontory called "Dubh Ard", the Gaelic for Black Point, the castle dominates the Sound of Mull. It was in the 13th century that the Macleans realised the importance of the "Dubh Ard", and built the first part of the castle, and these walls form part of the courtyard you see to-day.....
